The Impact of Virtual Networks on Academic Failure in High SchoolGirl Students Rates
The widespread presence of students in social networks has provided a unique opportunity to track the effects of using this medium on their academic performance. Therefore, the present study was conducted to determine the effect of using social networks on students' academic performance.
This cross-sectional descriptive-analytic study was carried out in government girls' high schools in Zabol in 2017 and 94 students were selected randomly. Students' membership in social networks, hours worked with them, the effect of networks on academic performance was determined by a researcher-made questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS 19 software and related tests.
According to the findings, the frequency of using various social networks; (91.5%) was Telegram, (80.9%) Instagram and (35.1%) Aparat respectively. Hours of use by students were (44.7%) around between 1 and 3 hours, (32.2%) less than 1 hour or more than 6 hours, (10.6%) between 4 and 6 hours, respectively. T-test showed that there was a significant relationship between the use of social networks with the average of all students (p value < 0.001).
With regard to the results of the increased use of social networks, the academic performance of students decreases, therefore, valuable informationon their positive and negative effects is provided to users and useful courses in the field of awareness raising and culture. And the science of virtual social networking.
