Deductive study of the form of Iranian mosques based on the tradition of architectural achievement (Case study: Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque and Reza Mosque in Tehran)
Transformation design is a centralized and interdisciplinary process that relies on individual imagination and methodological principles. Various architectural design models have been developed in the past that have attempted to connect the factors affecting the architectural design process, but they have not been effective. The researcher’s aim is to look into some of the factors and dimensions of tradition, as well as architectural achievements, that enable for the creation of a design model based on these factors. The typical factors that have unconsciously or consciously played a role in establishing of effect that have been considered by using the framework of the system and an analytical-descriptive approach and method in the current paper. The principles of tradition in the form of Goharshad Mosque were achieved thorugh spatial geometry, rotation, and a kind of transitional dicplacement by exterior walls, structural, and physical elements, whereas the principles of tradition in Reza Mosque of Tehran were obtained not only through fermi rotation but also by removal of index elements. A dome and a minaret shape the mosque’s framework. The other typical features include the presence of a garden pit and the distinction of the mosque from its surroundings. As a result, the tradition-based design model can be said to have values such as natural world harmony, spatial arrangement, form of geometry, visual design, and creativity and the design model of contemporary mosques, like Reza Mosque in Tehran, has drawbacks such as modeling past architecture regardless of construction time, simply modeling nature.
