Providing a Framework for Training and Developing the Competencies of Project Managers in a Government Organization
One of the main problems in the successful implementation of national projects that leads to a waste of financial and human resources is the lack of competent project managers. The present study seeks to design a framework for training and developing the competencies of the project managers of an Iranian government organization, which can not only be used as a criterion for employing project managers, but also it can help enhance competencies and capabilities of current project managers.In the first part of the research, interviews were conducted with expert project managers of the organization. Then, according to the theoretical coding method, the initial competency framework of the project managers was extracted. Using the competency framework questionnaire and statistical analysis of the obtained data, the final competency framework of the project managers of the organization was obtained. In the next step, by reviewing the literature, a list of competency training and development methods was prepared and used as well as the competency framework. Therefore, the competency training and development framework questionnaire was prepared and answered by project management experts. As a result of analyzing the data obtained from the collection of these questionnaires, the training framework and competency development of the organization's project managers were obtained.
