Investigating the Idea of the Contradiction between the Scientific Propositions of the Holy Quran and the Data of Experimental Sciences
The discourse of science and religion and the relationship or nonrelationship of the two has a long history and has had pros and cons among scientists in every age. The present study examines Dr. Jafar Nekounam's theory about the Holly Qur'an's opposition to science. He claims that the scientific propositions of the Holy Qur'an are in contradiction with the experimental sciences and have been adapted from some fantasies and superstitions of the contemporary Arabs of the revelation of the Holy Quran. The present study has been compiled with a descriptive-analytical method based on library sources and with a comparative interpretation approach (Holy Quran and experimental sciences) with the aim of understanding the relationship between the Holy Quran and experimental sciences (as well as resolving the conflict between them(. According to the results of the narrated and rational arguments, the Holy Qur'an does not contain false and superstitious teachings, but due to the shortness of the words and the greatness of the meanings, sometimes the misinterpretations of some people have caused suspicions. It seems that the results of experimental science data in the Holy Quran should be examined according to the appropriate methodology. Correspondingly, the verses focused on scientific propositions should be interpreted with certain scientific data (and not pseudo-scientific claims). This study examines their suspicions about the lack of scientific miracles about phenomena such as the rising sun and the seven heavens.
