Abstract:
Background and Aim

Many physical diseases are affected by cognitive and behavioral factors. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of neuropsychological function and self-care behaviors on COVID-19 anxiety in diabetic patients.

Methods

This was a descriptive correlational study. The statistical population included women with type 2 diabetes in the Iranian Diabetes Association in Urmia in the spring of 2021. Sample selection was done by simple random method. Corona Anxiety Questionnaire of Alipour et al (2019), Neuropsychological Function Questionnaire of Nejati (2013) and Self-Care Behavior Questionnaire of Toobert and Glasgow (1994) were used.

Results

The mean age of 165 women with type 2 diabetes was 45.7±18.4 years. There was a negative relationship between neuropsychological function and self-care behaviors with COVID-19 anxiety. Neuropsychological function and self-care behaviors had a negative effect of 0.20 and 0.25 on COVID-19 anxiety, respectively.

Conclusion

The findings of this study emphasize the role of cognitive factors on COVID-19 anxiety in patients with type 2 diabetes.
