Abstract:

One of the most important jurisprudential and interpretive categories of Islam is jihad. The need for defensive jihad is obvious; Because defense is a natural right; However, the legitimacy of the initial jihad and its conditions, especially in the era of continuous absence, has been controversial, and due to which widespread accusations have been leveled against Islam by some Orientalists and opponents. Hence, the importance and necessity of addressing this issue is becoming more apparent at the present time. Some Shiite and Sunni scholars have denied the basic jihad in Islam, including the late Salehi Najafabadi. He has rejected the primary jihad for various reasons, including the denial of the absolute verses of jihad in the Holy Qur’an, the application of the principle of absolute rule in such verses, and the citation of the Prophet’s biography. This research, while examining general views in this field, has explained his theory. The method of data collection in this research is library and the research method is descriptive-analytical.
