The study of Factors Affecting The Acceptance of Norms of Reference Groups and Ethnic Divergence

According to most experts in the field of development, the convergence of the cause of development and communicative actions based on conflict, violence and tension and in general, divergence hinders development. One of the factors influencing the Divergence is reference groups; Groups which have the most significant influence on attitudes, values and behaviors of people and their behavior are used as an exemplary and model by the other members Therefore, it is very important to recognize the factors affecting the acceptance of norms of reference groups and ethnic divergence. the aim of this study was to investigate the factors affecting the acceptance of norms of reference groups and ethnic divergence. The participants of the study were 30 key informants (including citizens of Urmia, police experts, sociologists, psychologists and experts in executive agencies (governors). The method of study was grounded theory and to select the participants, theoretical sampling method is used taking into account the principle of saturation. In the present study, in-depth interviews were used to collect research data. The data obtained from interviews were analyzed using systematic procedures of Corbin and Strauss in three phases of open, axial, and selective coding. The findings show that convergence and interaction of people are affected by the concepts of hope for the future, divergent -centered family socialization, leadership capacity of the reference groups, perceived discrimination and exclusion, fear of ethnic and linguistic capital, perceived economic pressure and external support. Also, the results showed that the ethnic activity of reference groups have economic, social, cultural, psychological, political, and security implications. In total, in selective coding phase, the Perceived economic pressure was discovered as the central issue.
