Studying the role of marginalization in social capital (Case study: Urmia City)
Social capital is a modern definition which nowadays has been presented in researches of economic, social, modern and even developing societies, but the presenting this issue besides marginalization as a social problem hasn’t been so long. In this study in addition to determining the role of marginalization in social capital, men and women are being analyzed according to their living location. Based on this, having made the theoretical framework consisting ecological theory, hypotheses of research were determined. Measurement method and technique of questionnaires were applied on a sample of 400 marginalized and non-marginalized men and women of Urmia to collect information. In this research cluster sampling method has been used. The results showed a significant interaction between gender and place of residence is in social capital. Social capital of marginalized and non-marginalized men and women are different. Thus marginalized women and non-marginalized men possessed least and most of social capital respectively. The interaction between ethnicity and educational level and residence in social capital is significant, while the relationship of marriage and education is not significant with social capital. So, Kurds and less educated people possess the least social capital. According to the results of this study, attending the marginalized people, especially women and different ethnic is necessary.
