The effect of education based on Pender model on the quality of school life of female high school students
Improving the quality of school life is associated with a sense of belonging to the school, high motivation to learn, a positive attitude towards school, and students' physical and mental health. Therefore, it is important to take measures to improve their quality of life. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of education based on the Pender model on the quality of school life of female high school students.
This quasi- experimental randomized study was performed on 62 students in the first high schools of Mashhad in 2020. In the intervention group, the training program was presented in 7 sessions of 90 minutes over a period of one month. Demographic information and quality of school life questionnaires were used to collect data before, immediately, and one month after the intervention. The data were then analyzed.
In the pre-intervention stage, the mean score of quality of school life in the intervention 122.4±14.0 and control 117.6±14.6 groups was not statistically significant (p>0.05). But immediately after the intervention, there was a significant difference between the intervention 137.5±9.4 and control 125.5±12.2 groups (p<0.001). Also, one month after the intervention, there was a significant difference between the intervention 144.9±5.7 and control 124.6±12.1 groups (p<0.001).
In the present study, the Pender model has improved the quality of school life in female adolescents, so this educational program can be used as an accessible, effective, and low-cost model in all target schools.
