The Dimensions of the Challenge of Nursing: Concept Analysis using Rodgers' Method

 Nurses play the lead role in providing health care and face numerous challenges in their profession. Therefore, understanding and overcoming these challenges is necessary. The current study was carried out to show the concept of dimensions of nursing profession challenge using Rodgers' method.

 The study used Rodgers' evolutionary concept analysis to clarify the concept of nursing challenge. For this purpose, the available and valid scientific databases such as Medline, Proquest Cinahel, Science direct, Google Scholar, SID, Iranmedex were searched without considering the time frame with the keywords Nursing Challenge, Nursing Problems and their English equivalents. 46 papers were selected according to the main concept of the study which was nursing challenge. The selected papers were available in full text, and comprise both research and review articles. Then, we reviewed the papers carefully and data collection and analysis were conducted based on Rodgers' concept analysis model.

 The study identified the characteristics of the concept of nursing challenge in three education, clinical environment and socio-cultural dimensions. The antecedents consisted of organizational, individual, social and professional factors, and the consequences were either positive or negative.

 The results identified the concept of nursing challenge and reveled the importance of rising awareness and resolving challenges in nursing.
