Identifying the effective factors on the occurrence of suicide among the residents of Semnan province and presenting strategies to reduce it with emphasis on religious teachings

Suicide is a problem that is plaguing human societies today, and unfortunately its statistics are increasing rapidly. Although the suicide rate in Iran is lower than in industrialized countries, but in recent years we have witnessed an increase in the number of suicides, which has caused concern among officials and the identification of its causes and ways to deal with it. Research has shown that religious teachings can be effective as a way to prevent psychological problems such as suicide. This study, which was conducted in Semnan province, seeks to identify the factors affecting the occurrence of suicide among residents of Semnan province and provide solutions to reduce it with emphasis on religious teachings. It is practical in terms of purpose and descriptive and It is of survey-analytical type. The study population is the family of those who have been involved in some way with the phenomenon of suicide, the number of which is about 500 people and the statistical sample is 217 people who were randomly selected. Findings showed that cultural factors, economic factors, social factors, family factors, individual factors affect the occurrence of suicide in Semnan province. Also, religious teachings have a significant effect on the relationship between cultural and economic factors and social factors and family and individual factors with reducing the incidence of suicide in Semnan province.
