Investigation of effective parameters on motorcycle injury accidents on urban streets

Motorcyclists are vulnerable in traffic accidents as an important element of traffic accidents, especially in the urban streets. Numerous studies conducted about motorcycle accident. The aim of this paper was to examine the effect of parameters such as the age of the rider, time of the accident and the environmental conditions of road at accident time in the injury motorcycle accidents in urban streets usisng reported accident data in year 1393 in rasht city and using path analysis to identify direct and indirect effects of each parameter on injury accidents. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that 97% of all motorcycle accidents in Rasht, are injury accidents. In addition, based on the results of the path analysis, lighting conditions had the greatest impact on the injury accidents. The results showed that the surface conditions had the least effect on the injury accidents. In this regard, it should be noted that weather conditions and time of accident were two variables that have a decreasing effect on injury accidents.
