Investigating the moral and cultural harms of apartment living, with a view to Islamic teachings
The developments of modern life, the expansion of urbanization and the rapid growth of the urban population have led to the increasing expansion of high-rise and apartment housing. The present study was conducted with a descriptive-analytical method with the aim of investigating and explaining the moral and cultural harms of apartment living in Iran, with a "fundamental" approach. After describing and analyzing the data and some reports from the experiences of apartment dwellers, it became clear that apartment living in Iran, in addition to some advantages, also brings hidden and obvious moral and cultural harms, including: “Restrictions on spouses' sexual relations", "Violation of some rights of children, the disabled and the elderly", "Challenges and harms caused by overcrowding", "Reduction of kinship and social ties", "Occurrence of all kinds of harassment due to mass congestion" , "Occurrence of areas of reduced shyness", "Reduced neighborhood interactions", "Psychological and physical suffering due to space constraints and lack of surroundings" in the apartment. In this research, these damages have been studied and explained by applying the verses of the Holy Quran and the narrations of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS).
