Newly found couplets of Onsori-e Balkhi

In this article, by making use of the Resāla fi al-Badi’ (treatise on rhetorical Figures) in the collection no. 4000 at the Hagia Sophia Library, 51 couplets by Onsori, not found in his printed Divans and in other sources accessible to the present author, are introduced. One other anonymous couplet has been quoted in the book Al-Mo’jam whose composer’s name can be found in the Resāla fi al-Badi’.  Further, there are three couplets of a Qasideh in praise of Abu Sahl Ahmad b. Hasan Hamduy, a man also eulogized by Farrokhi. This proves that one of Onsori’s mamduhs was this Abu Sahal, although no poetry in his praise is to be seen in Onsori’s Divan, nor can it naturally be found in any study based on the poet’s printed Divans.
