Instruction a psycho-educational intervention Program for mothers of premature infants and evaluating its effectiveness on parental stress and improvement of mother- infant relationship
The aim of this research is a designing educational psychological intervention program for mothers with a premature infants and assessing its effectiveness on parenting stress and improving the mother-infant's relationship.This is a clinical trial implemented on 40 mothers with a premature infants divided to intervention and control groups. Educational -psychological intervention program is ten sessions for an hour .It includes information such as the care of the premature infants, intensive care unit and stress coping strategies to mothers presented. The level of mothers’ stress and the quality of their interaction with their infants three times before and after the intervention and after 70 days was measures.Findings show that this program reduces the stress of parenting in mothers of premature infants and its three components such as parental disturbances, parental-infant disturbances and parental expectations (P < 0.01). And also improves mother-infant interaction. The results of follow-up tests showed that only component of sensitive behavior of mother-infant interaction has been affected (P < 0.01).Finally, based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that this is a educational - psycho interventional program for premature infant mothers is valid and useful.
