Identifying and Ranking the Components of Professional Ethics of Professors and Faculty Members of Imam Ali Military University (IAMU)
University professors and faculty members, as role models for students, in addition to performing their scientific and research duties, also play a critical moral role in educating students. The professors of military universities will have a special status in the field of observing and promoting moral principles, according to the specific goals and missions that they are responsible for. This study aims to identify the dimensions, components and characteristics of professional ethics of faculty members and professors of IAMU, then rank them from students view point. In this applied-exploratory research, the method is qualitative-quantitative, and the approach is inductive. 175 people were selected from among IAMU students based on Morgan table to rank the obtained dimensions. Data collected through questionnaire and interview with experts. The results show that the professional ethics of the faculty members of IAMU includes five dimensions: education, research, training, individual and organizational ethics; these dimensions and their components are above average among the professors and faculty members of IAMU. Individual ethics with the components of jihadi and behavioral spirit, and ideological-political competencies are the most important dimensions and the research and education are the least important dimensions. It is suggested that the identified dimensions and components, be applied in IAMU and other military universities of the army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and professors and faculty members be evaluated accordingly.
