The Nature of Islamic Spirituality Following an Educational Approach
The purpose of this study is to explain the nature of spirituality from the perspective of Islam. Therefore, the present study is a developmental research in terms of purpose and a qualitative research in terms of epistemology, which was done using a descriptive-analytical method. The method of data analysis in this research is progressive conceptual analysis. For this purpose, first the concept of spirituality, then the approaches (currents of thought) related to spirituality have been studied analytically to analyze and evaluate these approaches to deduce the concept of spirituality and discover its essence, namely the nature of spirituality, characteristics of spiritual man, and dimensions of spirituality. Religion From the Islamic point of view, we get a relatively comprehensive understanding of spirituality. The results and findings of this study showed that spirituality is a spiritual quality (state) that is due to man's relationship with the world of meaning and obligatory existence (God Almighty) through worship and servitude to God Almighty and based on epistemological principles and rules of Islam as well as Islamic moral values for Achieving the highest level is formed by nearness to God, a sound heart, and a good life. From this point of view, spiritual man has characteristics including feeling of poverty and need for God, belief in the existence and oneness of God, belief in the unseen world, belief in resurrection, belief in purposefulness of creation, belief in human free will, self-knowledge, knowledge of religion and practical commitment. It is to them and knowledge of moral values and practical commitment to them. Also, Islamic spirituality has four dimensions including the epistemological, emotional, voluntary, and the action dimensions.
