Applying Social Innovation to Solve the Problem of Child Labure: Using Systems Thinking

Child labure in developing countries, including Iran, have become a social problem, and charities or the government have not been able to solve the problem well. This study aims to identify the problems of child labure in Tehran and provide a solution to solve this problem. The main question is that why some children are willing to work in an insecure environment such as the streets? Research tries to use social innovation, because solving the problem requires the cooperation of all relevant and stakeholders. The research was conducted using snowball sampling and the four-stage social change process model and action research method were used. Finally, the suggestions were presented in two parts: Quick fixes and fundamental solutions. Finally, the selected solution was approved using the cultivation and packaging of herbal medicinal. 46 of child labures and their families participated in this project and the findings show that all of them are satisfied with the whole process and its useful achievements.
