Abstract:

The present study mainly focused on the theoretical aspect of governance (the idea of governance) in the minds of the leaders of the revolution. Thus, a particular form of logic was designed to perceive and scrutinize the dualities adapted and accommodated into the leaders’ minds in a geometrical and structured manner. This was also the case concerning maladjusted dualities. Moreover, it was tried to place realistic idealism and the critical view toward the West (two dualities more sensitive compared to similar ones) at the center of analyzing and understanding the structure of adjusting dualities in the mind of the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. The above two items were instances of applying the logic proposed in the present study to analyze other dualities existing in Ayatollah Khamenei’s thought like the ones explained in the “Second Step of the Revolution” statement in a more in-depth way. They included dualities like religion and wealth, truth and politics, and civilization and culture (to name but a few), which were dealt with in a structured manner in the statement. The present article aimed to investigate the logic of the leaders of the Islamic Revolution of Iran regarding the dualities influencing governance. The hypothesis was that the logic of the revolutionary leaders about the dualities influencing governance could be formulated and categorized according to the following patterns based on the positive aspects (agreement), including integration, affirmation, deconstruction, and selection. Moreover, the patterns arising from the negative aspects (opposition) were opposition and contradiction. The above logic was considered a model (introduced for the first time in the present article) to understand and act and was developed to discover the logic of dualities that were not mentioned in the present study and probably would emerge in the future. The presupposition of employing the “system of concepts” method was adaptability to the minds of the leaders of the revolution. Moreover, the present article pointed to several maladjusted dualities and argued that Descartes’s dualism was criticized and deconstructed by the leaders of the revolution as they adhered to Mulla Sadra’s ideas. Meanwhile, some dualisms, which could be considered insubstantial (e.g., weakening/imperialism), were not adaptable.
