The Effect Of Parenting Styles On Early Maladaptive Schemas With The Mediating Role Of Over Compensatory And Avoidance Coping Strategies
The present study was conducted with purpose of investigating the effect of parenting styles on primary maladaptive schemas with the mediating role of overcompensatory and avoidance coping strategies. The descriptive research method was of the correlation type (modelling of structural studies). The statistical population of the research was all students studying in the country in 2019, and 1509 people were selected as a sample by multi stage cluster sampling method and they responded to Young's Schema,Young's Parenting, Young's Avoidance, Extreme Compensation questionnaires. Data analysis was done by structural equation analysis method. The findings showed that parenting styles and coping styles have a positive and significant relationship with the primary maladaptive schemas. Also, the indirect effect of parenting styles on the criterion variable was significant. The model fit indices also confirmed the path of parenting styles to primary maladaptive schemas directly and also through the mediation of coping styles. Therefore, the results of this research can be used to explain the factors affecting the early maladaptive schemas.
