Abstract:
Background and purpose

Since 2004, dust storm has become a major problem in Khuzestan province, and the need for attention and action to solve this problem has increased. For this reason, the tree planting of the acute centers of fine dust to control this phenomenon was placed on the agenda of the organization of forests, pastures and wetlands of Khuzestan province.

Research method

In this study, using cost-benefit analysis, the tree planting plan of acute origins of Khuzestan province was evaluated from an economic perspective. For this purpose, the benefits of the implementation of this policy were considered as a reduction in heart and respiratory diseases, which was compared with the current value of planting and tree planting costs.

Findings

The results of this study showed that the criterion of net present value (NPV) is positive and the ratio of benefits to costs (B/C) is greater than one.

Discussion and conclusion

according to the obtained results, the implementation of this policy has an economic justification.
