Hirah and Yemen as the Gateway of Iranian Customs and Culture to Arabic Lands* (scholarly/research)

Abstract:
In this thesis it is tried to introduce the two regions of Hirah and Yemen historically and geographically and to survey their role in spreading the Iranian customs and culture and their subsequent influence on Arabic culture. Hirah and Yemen were the neighbors of Iran in the 5th and 6th centuries AD, and were under the control of the king of Iran. The Iranian government would choose rulers for these regions and send soldiers with them to guarantee the influence of the Iranian king. These local rulers were generally taxpayers to and supported the interests of the Iranians and in the case of war, they supported the Iranian government and stopped Bedouin Arabs from penetrating into the borders of Iran. Another reason why the Arsacids and the Sassanids were interested in these regions was the moderate climate and special trade condition, so that they were the highways through which the goods, minerals and natural substances were exported globally. This fact made the Iranians migrate widely to these regions and mix with other races there. Subsequently, because of these relationships and interactions, Hirah and Yemen were the entrances through which the Iranian culture and language found way to Arabic lands.
