Effectiveness of Positive Psychotherapy in Life Expectancy and Self-efficacy Among Diabetic Patients in Shahriar, Iran
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of positive psychotherapy in life expectancy and self-efficacy among diabetic patients in Shahriar, Iran.
This quasi-experimental study was conducted based on pre-test and post-test design and a control group. The statistical population of the present study included a number of patients with diabetes referred to comprehensive health service centers in Shahriar, Iran, in 1400, from which 30 cases were randomly selected and divided into two groups of experimental (n=15) and control (n=15). After randomly dividing diabetic patients into experimental and control groups, eight 2-hour positive psychotherapy skill training sessions were presented to the participants in the experimental group for 2 months; however, the control group received no intervention. Both groups completed Schneider et al.'s Scale of Expectancy and Scherer's Self-Efficacy once before and once after the experimental intervention.
Findings of the repeated measures ANOVA showed that positive psychotherapy training had a significant effect on life expectancy and self-efficacy among diabetic patients in Shahriar, Iran (P<0.05).
The results showed that positive psychotherapy training had a positive effect on life expectancy and self-efficacy.
