Investigation of the formative-spatial structure of caravanserais along the Silk Road in Great Khorasan.

The need for a shelter from the past to the present has made people not always unaware of it during the trip. It can be considered as one of the architectural and artistic masterpieces of its time in terms of construction style. In the present study, we introduce the formative and structural features of some examples of caravanserais located on the Silk Highway (sarakhs-sabzevar) and analyze them. Accordingly, the main questions of the article are as follows:- What is the formative structure of the inns?- What are the formative and spatial elements effective in Khorasan caravanserais along the Silk Road?Therefore, the research is based on documentary and field studies. The type of this research is applied and in terms of method, interpretive-historical, so that the initial observations and perceptions of the caravanserai are done and then according to the contents of the tour. Some of the architectural features of these caravanserais are examined in different periods. Finally, this building is studied in mass-space system, formative-spatial structure, spatial hierarchy and full-empty space, which can be used as a solution for designing complexes. A way to help meet the needs of the people of the community and create a favorable atmosphere from the past to the present.
