The Social Conditions of Takharistan Region Parallel with the Rise of Islam

The word "Takhar" comes from the name of one of the Siti tribes. Basically, this name had a foreign existence from the 4th century BC to the 8th century BC, and after the establishment of "Takharoa", a branch of the Siti tribes, in the northwestern corner of Ariana, this share It was specifically named after them. At that time, the geographical concept of the mentioned region was from the word Bakhtar Jame, and in the north of the Hindu Kush, it included all of Qatghan, Takharistan, Balkh, and even the Meimeneh and Samangan regions, from the foothills of the Pamirs. In most of the reliable historical documents, the geographical boundaries of Takharistan in the Islamic period included: Faryab, Jawzjan, Balkh, Samangan, Kunduz, Takhar and Badakhshan provinces. The purpose of choosing the topic is that so far no extensive research has been done on this topic, also because of the clarification of the dark corners of the present topic. The research method in this article is historical-analytical, which has been used to collect data in a library. The findings show that the residents of this area were followers of Zoroastrianism and Buddhism before the arrival of Islam. Takharistan was conquered by the arrival of the Arabs during the Caliphate of Osman.
