Study of sleep-wake pattern in adolescents of Makran region of Sistan and Baluchestan province of Iran in 2021
Sleep is a complex biological process and early insomnia is one of the most common problems known among young people. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the sleep-wake pattern of adolescents in Makran region of Sistan and Baluchestan province of Iran in 2021.
In this descriptive study, 530 high school students in Makran region of Sistan Baluchestan province (three main cities of Saravan, Iranshahr, Chabahar) in the academic year 2019-2021 were selected by multi-stage sampling. Subjects were demographic characteristics questionnaire, morning-evening questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 21 and independent t-test and ANOVA.
The results showed that students in Makran region of Sistan and Baluchestan are moderate in terms of circadian rhythm, but sleep preferences have been reported in these students and are more common among boys than girls. The preferred pattern of students in Iranshahr, Saravan and Chabahar cities has been sleep preferences. The mean of waking preferences, sleep preferences and optimal performance preferences in Iranshahr students was lower than students in Saravan and Chabahar.
Based on the findings of the study, the sleep-wake pattern of students is in a moderate state and all students have preferred the sleep preference pattern over other patterns. To be coordinated from the school and home program for sleep.
