Abstract:

One of the most important moral vices, which is the cause of misery of mankind, the obstacle to human happiness, and the source of many sins, is great dreams. The great dreams, like a hidden virus, lead to threaten the health of individuals and societies because of ignorance. This study, with the aim of identifying the great dreams, discovered their causes and consequences from the view of Nahj al-Balagha; thus, the book “Nahj al-Balagha”, moral books, and related researches were applied. The findings of this descriptive-analytical study showed that the most important cause of great dreams is the penetration of satanic deceptions and the tendency to this world that make a person feel to be nothing, have illusions and imaginary things, and cut off his/her connection with the truths of existence and spirituality of life. The most important consequence of great dreams is the weakness of reason that results in ignoring the understanding of the truths, especially, the death and hereafter.
