The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of teaching the theory of choice on quality of life, responsibility and self-efficacy of junior and senior pre-service teachers of girl’s campus of Farhangian University of Tehran (Nasibeh Campus). The research method for this research is experimental with a quasi-experimental design. The statistical population of this study is all junior and senior pre-service teachers of girl’s campus of Farhangian University of Tehran (Nasibeh Campus) who are studying in the academic year of 2020-2021. Statistical samples were selected using random sampling method among the junior and senior students of primary education and counselling majors. First, quality of life test was performed to measure screening on the entire statistical population, and then the the 50 individuals with lowest score were randomly divided into two groups of 25, control and experimental groups. Afterwards, an educational package based on selection theory was presented to the experimental group within 8 sessions of 50 minutes. After the end of the educational intervention, questionnaires were presented for both groups. The questionnaires used in this study are: World Health Organization quality of life questionnaire Short form (WHOQOL-BREF), Gough responsibility inventory (CPI_RE), Tschannen, Moran and Woolflolk Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential methods. Non-parametric Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon tests were used to analyze inferential statistical data. Its defaults were performed using Spss software version 23.
The results show that the mean difference between the score before and after the intervention on the three research variables (quality of life, responsibility and self-efficacy) in both groups, showed a significant difference. This means that the selection theory training have become effective on pre-service teacher’s all three research variables.
Finally, in this study, it was found that teaching the theory of choice is highly effective in increasing the quality of life, responsibility and self-efficacy of pre-service teachers.
