Presenting the Model of Effective Factors on the Development of Coopetition Strategy among Innovative and Start-Up Companies

Abstract:
Background & Purpose

Startup companies face many challenges to develop, grow and respond to diverse environmental demands. Adopting a competitive strategy in the scope of the startup ecosystem is one of the solutions for companies to overcome these challenges. Considering the importance of competitive strategy in start-up companies, this research examines the factors affecting the development and improvement of competitive strategy among start-up and innovative companies.

Methodology

The current research has an interpretative philosophical basis and a fundamental orientation. In this research, the inductive approach, qualitative method and grounded theory strategy were used. The statistical population of the research included founders and co-founders of start-up and innovative companies, 16 people were selected as a statistical sample using theoretical sampling and targeted method. A semi-structured interview tool has also been used to collect data.

Findings

Based on research data analysis, the causal conditions(Strategic environmental analysis, perceived uncertainty of startup ecosystem, lack of strategic resources, strategic thinking of founders), Background conditions(Cooperation networks, Suitability of coopititive partners and startup events ); interventionist(Information security, opportunistic behaviors, maintaining intellectual property, founders' mentality, access to new competitors and the level of trust building); A central phenomenon(coopetition strategy in start-ups); Strategies(Sharing knowledge and technology, exchanging resources and capabilities, stabilizing Coopetitive relationships, management of coopetitive conflicts, and widening Coopetitive development); and consequences (Dynamic resilience, entrepreneurial productivity, brand credibility, creative growth) have an effect on the application of competitive strategy in start-up companies.

Conclusion

The results of the research indicate the impact of the mentioned categories on the development and improvement of coopetition strategy in new and innovative and start-up companies. Therefore, for the successful implementation of the coopetition strategy in the country's startup ecosystem, more attention should be paid to these factors
