Healthy Life Style: Necessity, Importance
Non-communicable diseases or NCDs including but not limited to cardiovascular diseases or CVDs, cancers, diabetes mellitus or DM, high blood pressure or hypertension, COPD or Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, etc. are the most important cause of death in the world, and estimates indicate that this trend will continue in the coming years. This is despite the fact that many of the factors that cause the mentioned diseases, (including smoking, obesity, inactivity, alcohol consumption, and stress) can be prevented or controlled to a large extent. Lifestyle medicine is a specialty in medicine, which uses interventions to prevent and even treat those diseases that are related to people's lifestyle. This approach includes 6 principles; healthy eating pattern, ample physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and positive social connections. In recent years, the use of lifestyle medicine, to treat non-communicable diseases or NCDs, has become an accepted approach in the world.
