Recognition and Analysis of Visual Features of the Horse Motif and Visual Factors Affecting Polo Game Illustration with Emphasis on Three Miniatures of Tahmasebi Shahnameh
The horse is one of the most important components of the heroic elements in Polo game scenes in Shahnameh, which has been highly regarded by artists. Thus, the horse motif is at the center of the polo game illustration. This article focuses on content analysis of visual features of the horse motif and visual factors affecting Polo game illustration with emphasis on three miniatures of Tahmasebi Shahnameh. Therefore, in the present study, using the research method of descriptive-analytical and library resources, it answers the question here: What techniques did artists use to create Polo Game illustrations?
Based on research results, in Polo Game illustrations, a clear representation of the artist's visual output has been applied to the narration of Shahnameh with a proper and organized mood. Hence, the horse motif, which plays a key role in combining the visual elements of polo game scenes, loyalty at the same time to the text, has a special place, and the arrangement and composition of the visual elements of the miniatures are depicted based on the centrality of this motif.
