Evaluation of safety culture in Borujerd health care workers

Providing safe and high-quality care during crises such as natural disasters, conflicts, or epidemics should always be one of the fundamental goals of a health care system. In health care, in addition to patients, employees are also affected. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the state of HSE culture and its relationship with the infection of Covid-19 in health and treatment centers.

The current cross-sectional-analytical research was conducted using the standard HSE safety culture questionnaire and the PCR test to measure employees' exposure to Covid-19. The study subjects were randomly selected for investigation. In the following, SPSS version 22 software was used to analyze the data.

This study's participants were 452 employees working in the Corona Center Hospital of Borujerd city with an average age and standard deviation of 33.97 ± 5.69. The mean and standard deviation of the overall HSE culture score was 172.64 ± 23.53, 7.1% of people had a negative HSE culture, and 92.9% had a positive HSE culture. Examining the condition of covid-19 infection shows that 70.1% of people are infected with the virus. The results of multivariable linear regression showed that with increasing age, the overall score of HSE culture decreases (p-value=0.0001).

The results showed that the HSE culture in the health workers of the studied hospital is at a high level. The variables of age, history of accidents, illness, and job type affect the HSE culture score.
