Identifying methods of distinguishing murder from suicide in crime scene

One of the most important actions of experts in crime scenes where there is a dead body is to correctly diagnose and differentiate between murder and suicide, because misdiagnosing the two can cause the innocent suspect to be caught or the guilty person to escape punishment. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to identify and explain the methods of distinguishing murder from suicide in crime scenes.

In terms of the practical purpose and in terms of data collection method, the present research was conducted qualitatively and with thematic analysis technique. The participants in this research, according to the principle of theoretical saturation of data, are 10 experts from the police intelligence and forensic medicine of Qazvin and Karaj cities . are selected in a purposeful way and the collection of research information was done through semi-structured interviews, after implementation with the help of Max QDA software and through open, central and selective coding of the links between these categories. Explanation and theoretical model of statistical research and then analyzed.

The result of the research findings, after removing duplicates, is 96 basic themes, 15 organizing themes and 3 overarching themes under the headings of general actions, how to act in mechanical and chemical crime scenes. The most topics related to technical and informational measures are under the comprehensive theme of general measures and the least topics are under the comprehensive theme of measures in chemical crime scenes.

The results of the research findings show that in the crime scene of suspected murder, technical-informational measures and examination of the communication records of the deceased and the suspects are very effective and can lead to the discovery of the motive and trigger for the occurrence of murder or suicide,
