Investigating the effect of mindfulness-based group therapy on the professional commitment of active duty soldiers: a quasi-experimental study
The present study was conducted with the aim of experimentally investigating the effect of group therapy based on mindfulness on the professional commitment of conscripts. The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research included all the conscripts of Bukan city in 2021 - 2022, who were included in the study through the available sampling method from among the qualified people, and were randomly replaced in two groups of 15 people, experimental and control. The measurement tool in this research was the professional commitment questionnaire of Meyer et al. (1993). The experimental group underwent Williams and Segal (2003) mindfulness therapy for 8 2-hour sessions, and the control group did not receive any intervention. Statistical data analysis was done using univariate analysis of covariance and SPSS version 23 software. The significance level of the tests was considered 0.05. The findings showed that after the intervention, the effect of mindfulness-based group therapy on the professional commitment of active duty soldiers was significant. Based on the results of the research, it can be said that group therapy based on mindfulness is a suitable intervention method to improve the professional commitment of conscripts. Therefore, considering this treatment along with other intervention programs can lead to an increase in the professional commitment of soldiers.
