A Comparative Analysis of Semantic Dimensions and Spatial Relationships in Classical courtyard houses of Beijing

Beijing's classic courtyard houses (siheyuan) have come to the attention of various segments of Beijing as a traditional residence and symbol of identity. This study tries to present the history, identity and design philosophy of Beijing Classic Yard Homes. Also, the interpretations and special features of these houses, including special attention to Feng Shui and the flow of qi energy, have been examined. Beijing's classical and traditional architecture has long and ancient roots in the culture and identity of its people. Culture and identity are two important factors in the formation of traditional Beijing architecture, which have been used as design pillars and have attracted the attention of the Beijing people. This study considers the classic Beijing courtyard houses as an identity and cultural feature of this city and tries to introduce as many objective and mental features of traditional Beijing houses as possible. It is based on the Chinese belief in Feng Shui and Qi energy.
