Prediction of Addiction Potential Based on Psychological Capital, Rumination and Mindfulness of Female Students of Varamin Islamic Azad University

The aim of this study was to Predict Addiction Potential based on psychological capital, rumination and mindfulness in female students of Islamic Azad University of Varamin. The research was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of the study consisted of all female students of the Islamic Azad University of Varamin in the academic year 2019-2020 in the second semester. 200 female students were selected by convenience sampling method and given the Wade and Butcher Addiction Potential Questionnaire (1992), Lutans et al. (2007) Psychological Hardiness Questionnaire, Yousefi et al. (2009) and Bauer Mindfulness Questionnaire. Colleagues (2004) responded. Research data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient matrix and multivariate regression with SPSS version 24. The results showed that there is an inverse and significant relationship between the total score of psychological capital (r = -0.56 and p = 0.002) and its dimensions with addiction (P <0.05). This relationship between the total score of rumination (r = 0.44 and p = 0.002) and its dimensions with addiction, positive and significant and between the total score of mindfulness (r = -0.62 and p = 0.001) and Its dimensions with Addiction Potential were inverse and significant (P <0.05). Also, multivariate regression by simultaneous entry method showed that 44% of the variance of Addiction Potential can be explained based on predictor variables (psychological capital-mindfulness and rumination). Therefore, to prevent Addiction Potential in students, by recognizing effective psychological factors and strengthening the mindset, students' vulnerability in this field can be reduced.
