Strategic planning of the physical development of Kazerun using SWOT technique

The rapid growth of the population and the parallel increase in physical and non-physical problems and anomalies in today's cities. Since along with the inefficiency of urban development plans to eliminate these problems, planners have sought to provide new approaches in Urban planning. One of the new approaches to urban planning is strategic urban evaluation. The upcoming study examines various indicators of urban development with a strategic planning approach in Kazerun city in order to identify appropriate strategies for urban development in line with sustainable development. This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive analysis in terms of research method. The method of collecting information and data in this research was library and field method. In the survey method, information was collected through interviews and questionnaires from 184 citizens of Kazerun city. Finally, the SWOT technique has been used to analyze the data and the quantitative strategic planning matrix (QSPM) technique has been used to prioritize urban development strategies. The findings of the research indicate that improving the environmental quality of the target area by improving the water supply infrastructure is the most important strategy in the physical development of Kazeroon city. Therefore, strategies to secure the city against natural disasters as well as preventing inappropriate usage changes in the study area by conducting environmental impact assessment studies should be given serious attention.
