An analytical study of some allusions and combinations in Yazdian idioms and proverbs

Proverbs are an important dimension of the oral literature of any nation. The level of taste and eloquence of a society can be recognized by examining their expressions, metaphors, and common sayings. Proverbs often use humor and clever criticism to better understand situations or to warn and encourage individuals. They serve as a reflection of the thoughts and experiences of previous generations in identifying the societies' development and the course of cultural history. In this research, after selecting proverbs that were adorned with metaphors, the type of metaphor in terms of proximity and remoteness of secondary meaning, as well as its ambiguity and clarity, was examined. After conducting a frequency analysis, it was determined that over forty percent of the metaphors fall under the category of ambiguous means.
