The effect of marginalization on women's health in Ardebil city

The background and purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of marginalization on women's health.

The research method is applied and analytical-descriptive. A statistical sample of 384 women from the marginal areas of Ardabil, was selected by random sampling. The measurement tool of the women's health questionnaire was in two general dimensions: functional poverty and women's mental health. Data analyzed by SPSS software and T-test.

The health of marginalized women is poor and the average of the poverty components is higher than the average and the average of the mental health components is lower than the average. access to the desired food basket (2/34), but access to health and medical services (2/13), protection of sacred things and human dignity (2/71) and protection of women's self-esteem (2/61), access to Basic freedoms (2.17) and social, economic and political participation (2.70) and physical ability (2.28) are weak in this region. Also, in the examination of mental health, it was found that in terms of social competence (2.92), optimism for the future (2.44), perception of self-efficacy (5.53), intergenerational dependence (2.25), self-actualization and capabilities. . Intellectual and emotional potential (2.83) is in a weak state.

The marginal areas of informal settlements are an inappropriate and threatening place for women's health. The managers of the urban area should take action to transform the situation of these areas into an urban context.
