The relationship between Enneagram personality types and adolescents' suicidal tendencies & sensation-seeking

The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between Enneagram personality types and adolescents' suicidal tendencies & sensation-seeking. This research is descriptive and correlational. The statistical population consist of all adolescents aged 15 to 17 years was an applicant for learning English during the second half of 2019 in language schools of District 5 of Tehran & 110 people were selected as the sample size by multi-stage cluster sampling. Candidates answered questions from Enneagram Riso & Hudson (1991), suicidal tendencies from Orbach et al. (1981) and Zuckerman's sensation-seeking (1978). Data were analyzed with Pearson correlation coefficient. The findings showed sensation-seeking had a significant negative relationship with the Reformer and Individulist types and had a significant positive relationship with the Peacemaker type. The attraction of life has a significant negative relationship with the Reformer, Investigtor, and Challenger types, and has a significant positive relationship with the Achiever, Loylist, Enthusiast & Peacemaker types. Lack of acceptance of life has a significant negative relationship with Loylist and Enthusiast types and has a significant positive relationship with Investigtor and Challenger types. Also the attraction of death has a negative relationship with the Enthusiast type and a positive relationship with the Investigtor type (p <0.05).
