Case example: Karaj

Good urban governance includes a set of functions, processes, and policies that are implemented to provide better services, improve living conditions, and create a suitable urban environment for work and life. The purpose of this research is to investigate the desirability of good urban governance indicators in Karaj. The research is applied, and the method is descriptive-analytical. The data and information were collected from the library, documents, and surveys (using a questionnaire tool). The statistical population of the research is all the experts of Karaj Municipality, and 100 questionnaires were randomly completed. Six indicators were used to measure good urban governance: result orientation, promotion of values, clarification, effectiveness of roles and duties, capacity building, and accountability. To analyze the data, Hotelling's t, ANOVA, and Friedman statistical tests were used. The results of the ANOVA test show a difference in the degree of favorability of governance between the ten districts of Karaj municipality. Hotelling's t-test also shows a difference between the mean of the dimensions of judgment and the desired mean. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that establishing transparency in urban governance can lead to better understanding of citizens' needs and demands, and people will turn to urban management more intelligently and confidently.
