Investigating the Relationship between Drug Abuse and Its Psychosocial Complications in the Family of Addicts
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between drug abuse and its psycho-social effects on the families of addicts in Northern Khorasan Province (A Case Study of Childs). The survey method is used in this study. The statistical population consists of addicted parents and their children and through cluster sampling method 288 people were selected randomly. In order to collect the data, General Health Questionnaire GHQ-28 and the Scl-90- psychiatric symptoms were used. In order to analysis of the data the Pearson correlation coefficient and chi-square tests were used. Chi-square results showed that there is a significant relationship between parents’ drug abuse and children’s epidemic of psychological disease (p>.0/05). According to the results, 28 percent of children with addicted parents are faced with psychiatric symptoms, in which the prevalence of children symptoms respectively devotes on physical complaints (50 percent), paranoid (43%), obsessive-compulsive thoughts (38%), Anxiety (35 percent), interpersonal sensitivity (26%), psychosis (24%), aggression (23 percent), phobia (12%) is. The findings have important implications for prevention and treatment of mental and behavioral disorders refer children are drug addicts.
