Ben Bursten's typology in narcissistic personality disorder with an attitude towards Islamic teachings

The complexity and various manifestations of the narcissist personality made efforts to organize and categorize them by psychologists and psychoanalysts.The result of these efforts was initially to formulate the main types of narcissism.These efforts did not end here and some researchers proposed other types for this type of disorder, which are known as subtypes. Among these researchers is Ben Bursten, who proposed four subtypes: dependent, paranoid, manipulative, and phallic.The purpose of this research was to investigate this type of typology based on Islamic teachings.

This research has studied and analyzed the four types of Ibn Burstan in a descriptive-analytical way and with an attitude towards Quranic and hadith teachings.

The findings of the research showed that Bursten's typology, which has been less discussed in related researches, is extensive and includes the characteristics of other types of personality disorders, as well as with some characteristics of personalities in the Holy Quran and The narrations match.

 According to the results of the research, the narcissistic personality, their types and characteristics can be calculated from Quranic and hadith teachings and used in Islamic psychology studies.
