The comparing effectiveness of emotion-focused couple therapy and cognitive behavioral couple therapy on decrease of marital burnout and depression of couples
The purpose of this study was to comparing effectiveness of emotion-focused couple therapy and cognitive behavioral couple therapy on decrease of marital burnout and depression of couples. This semi-experimental study was conducted with a pretest-posttest design with control group and follow-up 2 month. The statistical population of this research was all the couples who referred to counseling centers and psychological services in Kermanshah city in 1400. In the first stage, using convenience sampling method, 45 couples (90 people) were selected and then randomly divided into 2 groups (each group 15 couples to 60 people) and one contorl group (15 couples to 30 people) were replaced and experimental group underwent emotion-focused couple therapy (10 sessions 90 minutes) and group cognitive behavioral couple therapy (10 sessions 90 minutes), but the control group received no training and remained in the waiting list. To collect data marital burnout questionnaire of Pines (2003) and depression inventory (BDI-II) of Beck and et al (1996). Analysis of variance with repeated measures with SPSS software was used for data analysis The results showed that both interventions had a significant effect on on decrease of marital burnout and depression of couples (P<0.05). In addition, the results of Bonferroni post hoc test showed that emotion-focused couple therapy is more effective in decrease of marital burnout and depression (P<0.05).
