Abstract:
The aim of this study was to predict adolescent Internet addiction based on parenting styles with mediating role of attachment styles. The research method was descriptive-correlational in terms of method. The statistical population of the study included all male and female high school students in Kashan city in the academic year 2021-2022 (6470 people). According to Morgan's table, a sample of 398 people were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling method. Using Young (1998) Internet Addiction Questionnaire (IAT), Schaefer Naqashian (1358) (PSQ) and Adult Attachment Style Questionnaire (Hazen and Schiver (1987) (AASQ)) data were gathered. Using AMOS 23 software was analyzed the data. The evaluation of the proposed model was performed using structural equation modeling. The results showed that loving parenting style had a significant effect on adolescents' Internet addiction directly (p <0.01) and mediated by anxiety, insecure and avoidant attachment styles (p <0.05). On the other hand, the direct effect of controlled parenting style and mediated by insecure attachment styles on adolescent Internet addiction was not significant (p <0.05). According to the results of the present study on the relationship between parenting styles and Internet addiction in adolescents and the mediating role of attachment styles, these findings have practical implications for psychologists for a comprehensive therapeutic intervention to reduce internet addiction in adolescents.
