Enhancing the Popularity of Government Managers and Officials Based on the Recommendations of Amir al-Mo'menin Imam Ali (peace be upon him)
The acceptance of organizational management by employees can play a constructive role in increasing public trust and their level of communication with management. Therefore, attention to the concept of acceptance, or popularity, in organizational studies is of considerable importance. In this present research, with a focus on the role of this issue in organizational management, efforts were made to introduce the reasons for the creation and preservation of acceptance for government managers and officials based on the recommendations of Amir al-Mu'minin Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
This research, using a religious approach in management topics and employing content analysis method as one of the commonly used qualitative research methods, examined the letters of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) to government officials in the noble book Nahj al-Balagha. In the first stage, 148 initial codes were extracted, and then the explicit and implicit content of each code was identified. Finally, after removing similar and repetitive themes, 61 themes were categorized into separate classes.
The research findings indicated that enhancing the acceptance of government officials requires attention to two components consisting of personal matters, including spiritual qualities and ethical behaviors, and administrative matters, meaning administrative behaviors of the official.
For a government official to achieve acceptance, they must possess personal and administrative competency. In this sense, from the personal and genuine dimension, some spiritual and practical ethical qualities in their behavior, such as kindness, humility, fairness, as well as avoiding narrow-mindedness, arrogance, and deception, alongside other necessary indicators, are essential. From the legal perspective as a competent administrative actor, the adoption and institutionalization of certain administrative behaviors, such as stability in decision-making, meritocracy, accessibility to employees, freedom of expression and criticism in the work environment, as well as avoiding flattery, bias, and categorization for advancing goals, alongside other constructive administrative behaviors, are necessary.
