The effect of water super absorbent polymer on increased yield and yield components of red bean varieties under drought stress

Abstract:
Drought and its consequent stress is one of the important factors which restricts agricultural production and reduces the use efficiency of dry lands. Recognition and utilization of crops tolerant to drought and methods for reduction water use plant makes it possible to use semi arid areay. Super absorbent is a kind of matter that it able to absorb water and nutrient and help to increase the growth of plant. In order to study the effect of super absorbent polymer on some agronomic traitsg yield and yield components of red bean, in the research station of Islamic Azad University, Karaj Branch in 1384, three varieties (Derakhshan, D81083, Naz) under normal and stress irrigation and split factorial design under randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replication were used. Irrigation treatments were factor A along main plot and red bean varieties were factor and factor, c was super absorbent concentration (0, 7%) on sub plots.Results showed significant difference between irrigation treatments, varieties and polymers concentration for length of pod, number of pod per plant, number of seed per pod, seed yield, total dry matter, harvest index and 100 seed weight. Therefore, drought stress has caused significant decrease in the traits. the studies in field also showed that Naz variety is recognized as resistant variety and Derakhshan variety as sensitive variety. Results of experiment showed that superabsorbent absorbs and keep the water and it can to reduce death of plant from waterless and it can increase agronomi characteristics and with attention to increase yield and yield components and decrease the use water, to dispose of super absorbent is suitable viewpoint economic.
