Compare the effect of Zataria multiflora vaginal cream with metronidazole oral pill in the treatment of trichomonas Vaginitis

Trichomonas vaginalis is a third common cause of vaginitis. Antibacterial and Antifungal and antitrichomonal effects of Zataria multiflora have been demonstrated. The purpose of this study was to Compare the effect of Zataria multiflora vaginal cream with metronidazole oral pill in the treatment of trichomonas Vaginitis.Methods and Material: The survey was a randomized clinical trial which has been accomplished on 54 non pregnant women. Trichomoniasis were diagnosed by wet smear. A 7 night usage of zataria multiflora vaginal cream prescribed for study group & Metronidazole oral pill for control group. Data was obtained by interview and observation forms and was analyzed by Chi square, Student t-test and Mann-whitney, Macnemar, Wilcaxon. According to "wet smear result", Successful therapeutic was 51/9 % in Zataria multiflora group and 88/9 % in Metronidazol group. It illustrated a statisticall significant difference between two group(P = 0/003). In view point of clinical feature, there was a statisticall significant difference between groups (p<0.0260. Percentage of successful response in users of Zataria multiflora vaginal cream was less than users of metronidazole oral pill but improve of clinical result in Zataria multiflora vaginal cream group was more than metronidazole oral pill group therefore. we suggest use of both the Zataria multiflora vaginal cream and metronidazole oral pill with together fore treatment of trichomonas Vaginitis.
