The Impact of Globalization on the Distribution of Income Among the D-8 Countries
The study of the relationship between globalization and income distribution is quite controversial. The impact of globalization on income distribution in developing countries is both necessary and important. For this reason in the current article an attempt has been made to evaluate the effect of globalization on the distribution of income among the D-8 countries. We used openness as an index for globalization. The Gini Coefficient was used to measure income distribution among the countries under study. A panel data approach covering the period 1995-2004 was used to estimate the impact of globalization on income distribution. The findings of this study show that trade liberalization during the period of the study has improved income distribution and lowered income inequalities among the D-8 countries.
