An Examination of Undergraduate Student Citation Behavior

Aiming at the examination of undergraduate student citation behavior, this essay studied the effect of class year, academic discipline and the student's course level components upon the citation behavior and the numbers and the type of citation, as well. This research conducted in Bucknell University in 2002. It was done in field study using 583 bibliography referred to the undergraduate students of humanities and those of social sciences. Finding showed that all three components of class year, discipline of the course, and Course level had a notable effect upon the student's citation behavior. It showed also that students still use books as the most important resource and their citation to web site is very low
